ACNP is pleased to sponsor the 2010 Advanced Public Policy Institute for Health Professionals (PPI), to be held February 24-26, 2010 in Washington, DC. The Public Policy Institute for Health Professionals provides participants with in-depth presentations on key legislative and regulatory issues facing health professionals.

Topics will include: behind-the-scenes Washington scenarios; nuts and bolts of health issues in Congress and the Administration; revisiting Medicare and Medicaid; state Scope of Practice issues; future informatics and telecommunications advances; changes coming in insurance market; forces impacting economics of health care; current legislative issues for health professionals; and the need for development of a leadership presence in health professionals. In summary, attendees:

• Meet key policy-makers from legislative & regulatory branches
• Confer with health professional colleagues on public policy issues
• Examine best ways to approach policymakers with policy changes for professional practice
• Participate in Congressional visits to your Members of Congress and observe Washington office-holders in action
• Discuss & debate successful strategies for coalition-building
• Learn how to expand professional networks and manage deliberations on public policy issues

Following completion of this 3-day policy workshop experience, participating health professionals will have gathered skills and intelligence about the policy-making process, and have a better sense of the tasks ahead to impact change in our current health care world.
