Margie Koehler Legislative Advocacy Award
Koehler Legislative Advocacy Award
The Margie Koehler Legislative Advocacy Award was initiated in 2001 in honor of Margie Koehler, MSN, RN, A/GNP, for her many years of advocacy for NPs. ACNP's Board of Directors established the award to honor Koehler's tireless grassroots efforts to mobilize NPs to influence governmental legislation in both state and national arenas so as to remove barriers to NP practice. One of Koehler's outstanding achievements was her effort to favorably influence the Balanced Budget Act of 1997 and increase payment for services to NPs. Criteria for Nomination: The Margie Koehler Legislative Advocacy Award is presented as warranted by deserving individuals at the National Nurse Practitioner Summit to an individual NP or layperson who has demonstrated a commitment to ACNP's legislative priorities and who has shown outstanding political and legislative leadership.
Nomination Process: Any ACNP Member may submit a nomination of 250 words or less detailing the reasons for nominating the candidate for this award along with the nominee's CV, and two (2) letters of recommendation to the ACNP Washington Office. Submissions may be emailed to acnp@acnpweb.org, faxed to 703-740-2533, or mailed to 1501 Wilson Blvd. Suite 509, Arlington, VA 22209.
The award winner will be notified in early January and should plan to be present during the Annual ACNP National NP Summit to receive recognition.
